Tenure insecurity and incremental housing development in the peri-urban interface of Ibadan, Nigeria

The increasing urbanization being experienced in countries of Africa exacerbates current housing needs and tenure insecurity. In Ibadan, Nigeria, the urban populace finds it easier to access land informal market because strictness formal market. This results incremental development. Based on self-help theory, study examined contribution insecurity development peri-urban Ibadan. A cross-sectional research design mixed methods were employed study. 248 household heads selected from 6 LGAs Ibadan administered with a structured questionnaire. Ethical protocols followed informed consent was obtained. revealed that majority developers illiterates. Factors accounted for included fear eviction, high rent, lack funds. recommended enhancing secure titles as has multiplier-effects housing.
